WEATHER
The weather in Madrid is usually warm with average highs of 30ºC and lows between 18ºC and 20ºC.
TIME
The mainland country of Spain is in the Central European Time (UTC+01:00), except Canary Islands is Western European Time (UTC+0:00).
ELECTRICITY
The voltage in Spain is AC 220 volts, 50 Hertz. Spain uses the F-Type plug, is the plug which consists of two round pins with two earth clips on the side. It may be necessary for you to get a travel adapter.
WATER
Tap water is safe to drink anywhere in Madrid. Mineral water including major imported brands can be easily obtained from supermarkets, vending machines, convenience stores and other similar places.
SMOKING
Smoking in the street is allowed. Please smoke only in designated smoking areas.
CREDIT CARDS
Credit cards may be accepted in large hotels, shopping centers and restaurants whereas smaller or private shops usually don’t accept credit cards. Credit card users are advised to check which payment methods are accepted before making purchases.
CURRENCY AND ATMs
The currency in Spain is the Euro (€). Banknotes and coins are easily identifiable. Cash can be exchanged at any “Authorized Foreign Exchange Bank” (signs are displayed in English).
Currency exchange bureaus are available at Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas International Airport terminals.
It is possible to use ATMs located in banks, hotels, and large shopping centers to withdraw Euros (€).
